The excavation of the archaeological site of Cerro de las Cabezas has uncovered a small portion of the Iberian city it conceals. The systematic campaigns that the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha has been carrying out in collaboration with the Valdepeñas Town Hall, for several years, are gradually revealing parts of the city’s urban and defensive areas, showing us its urban planning, warehouses, domestic areas, sanctuaries, towers, and walls.
This research task is complemented by the restoration of the discovered structures, roads, etc., with the aim of enhancing their value.
In addition to these two features, the built infrastructure allows for numerous cultural, academic, and recreational activities for the enjoyment of society. The construction and operation of the Interpretation Center, where audiovisual media, scale models, architectural recreations, and interpretations of Iberian culture are developed, immerse visitors in the knowledge of the natural environment and Iberian societies, making the Center a reference point in current museology and the interpretation of an archaeological site.

Infrastructures.
In the southern area, at the main entrance, there is a large parking lot. From this point, a pedestrian path begins the tour of the site and provides access to the excavations and the Iberian City.
In the northern area is the Interpretation Center, which is a single-story, heptagonal-shaped building.
In the central area, there are two completely separate plazas, as they are at different elevations. In one of them is located:
- Administrative Area, with a single floor, including classrooms, workshops, and a storage room.
In the higher plaza is located:
- Archaeology and Restoration Workshop, a single-story building that includes an archaeology workshop, restoration workshop, and a storage room.
- Iberian Studies Center, which includes a meeting room shared with a library, a study workshop, and a conference room.
