Inicio Monuments Religious Heritage Hermitage of San José
It is a building from the early 17th century, whose architectural style represents the transition from Renaissance to Baroque.
On the exterior, it features a façade formed by a semi-circular arch decorated with a fleur-de-lis on the keystone and imposts, topped by a broken triangular pediment, within which there is a shield with tiaras over crossed keys.
Inside, presiding over the chapel, is an 18th-century Baroque sculpture representing Saint Joseph with the child during their flight to Egypt. Additionally, a cornice runs along the walls. The ceiling is covered with a vault and a canvas depicting a choir of cherubs, created by the Valencian artist D. Eugenio Bonell.
Located on 6 de junio street, at the junction with Arpa street, this chapel was an impenetrable point for French troops during the invasion on June 6.
It was declared a Historical Artistic Monument in 1981.
